Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis in Tunis, Tunisia · Centre Urbain Nord

Cryolipolysis in Tunis: reduction of localised fat deposits by cold, without surgery or anaesthesia, alongside a balanced diet.

What is it?

Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical technique that reduces localised fat deposits using cold. An applicator placed on the area gently draws in the fold of skin and cools it in a controlled way. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the skin and other tissues: some of them are gradually eliminated by the body over the following weeks. It is intended for stubborn "bulges" that resist diet and exercise: abdomen, love handles, outer and inner thighs, upper arms, back. It is NOT a weight-loss method: it refines the figure of a person close to their ideal weight. If you are overweight, the centre's nutritional coaching remains the first step. Each treatment starts with a consultation: examination of the areas, check for contraindications, explanation of the possible results and of the number of sessions considered. The result appears gradually, usually after several weeks, and a second session on the same area is sometimes suggested.
Cryolipolysis

When is it indicated?

Localised, stubborn fat deposits

Bulges on the abdomen, hips or thighs that persist despite a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

Person close to their ideal weight

Cryolipolysis refines a specific area; it replaces neither weight loss nor dietary rebalancing.

Wish for a non-surgical option

It requires no anaesthesia, no incision and no time off work. For a more significant result, a surgical consultation may be suggested.

Complement to a nutrition programme

Combined with nutritional follow-up, it helps work on an area that remains stubborn at the end of the programme.

Preparation

1A prior consultation is required: examination of the area and check for contraindications
2Report any cold-related disease (cryoglobulinaemia, cold urticaria, severe Raynaud’s disease), a hernia or a recent scar in the area, pregnancy or breastfeeding
3Report your current treatments, especially blood thinners
4Wear comfortable clothing; no special dietary preparation

Procedure

1

The area to be treated is identified and marked

2

A protective wipe is placed on the skin, then the applicator, which draws in the fold of fat

3

A feeling of pulling and intense cold during the first minutes, which then fades

4

During the session you lie or sit comfortably and can read or rest

5

After the applicator is removed, the area is massaged for a few minutes

6

You can resume your usual activities immediately

Duration

About 35 minutes to 1 hour per area, depending on the applicator; the result becomes visible gradually over a few weeks

Results

The reduction in fat thickness is gradual and varies from one person to another. It lasts if your weight remains stable: a balanced diet and regular physical activity remain essential. A further session on the same area can be discussed after assessment.

Risks and side effects

Redness, swelling, small bruises, numbness or tenderness of the area: common and temporary
Delayed pain in the following days: possible, usually moderate
Cold burn: rare, prevented by the protective wipe and monitoring
Paradoxical increase of fat in the treated area (paradoxical adipose hyperplasia): rare
Contraindications: cryoglobulinaemia, cold urticaria, severe Raynaud’s disease, hernia in the area, pregnancy and breastfeeding, wound or skin disease on the area

These risks remain rare. Your physician will inform you in detail before the examination.
